CLAY COUNTY, Mo. — Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in a body of water at Rocky Hollow Park outside of Excelsior Springs, Mo.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Clay County Park Ranger Division, responded to the scene Wednesday morning and located the body of 78-year-old Joe T. Holt about three feet from shore.
Holt was first discovered by an Excelsior Springs couple who went to the lake to fish. At first they thought it was a tarp in the water but soon realized it was a body and immediately called 911.
At this time Holt’s body is being examined by the Jackson County Medical Examiner in the attempt to determine the cause of death. The case remains under investigation.
