KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- There are more than 7,000 white lights, 1,200 ornaments and lots of love in Crown Center. The Rockhurst High School Concert Choir took the stage along with local brass quintet Masterpiece Brass after Mayor Sly James and his special guest, rapper Tech N9ne, helped kick off this holiday season by flipping the switch and turning on the beautiful display.

Thousands of people surrounded the 100-foot tall Douglas Fir tree calling it a family affair worth seeing in person. Each year after the holidays, ornaments are made from the tree and sold to raise money for the Mayors’ fund. Mayor James said last year this tradition helped over 7,000 Kansas City families.
