ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Police in Alaska are calling the disappearance of U.S. Air Force airman Clinton Reeves, who hasn’t been seen since April 22, “suspicious”.

Senior Airman Clinton Reeves, 22, is originally from the Kansas City area and a graduate of Raytown High School. He is stationed in Alaska at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

His family says Reeves was looking for a new car, after receiving a $4,000 insurance settlement. He told them he found one he liked on Craiglist and planned to go see it on the weekend he disappeared.

“He went out trying to pick up a new car so he can end up having it to finish out his time in the Air Force, which he only had a year left on his enlistment before he was to get out,” said Rick Reeves, Clinton’s uncle.

Police in Anchorage say that Reeves’ rental car was found last Friday, and that several of his personal items were still in the vehicle. The last person to talk to him was one of his squadron-mates over the phone on Sunday, April 22, and he never returned to his base.

“He is missing under such circumstances that we are very concerned,” said Lt. Dave Parker with the Anchorage Police Department, which is handling the investigation.

Clinton’s father, a navy retiree, flew from Wichita to Alaska on a military transport. Clinton’s large family in Paola is hopeful he went exploring and will be found soon.

“Being up there in Alaska, he likes being out in the outdoors and everything that he may have gone out and got caught by a wildlife, you know,” said his uncle.
