Miss America visits KC, talks about preventing child sexual abuse

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mallory Hytes Hagan, Miss America 2013, visited Kansas City on Tuesday and  spoke at the Sunflower House Circle of Safety Breakfast in the morning.

Her other activities include visiting the Children's Mercy Hospital Section on Child Abuse and Neglect to meet parents and families there. She will also throw out the first pitch at the KC T-Bones game.

Hagan's chose child sexual abuse awareness and prevention as her platform.

Her mother, Mandy Moore, convinced her to tackle child sexual abuse since it had affected her mother, aunt, grandmother and cousins. Hagan has stated that she has experienced the ripple effects of child sexual abuse.
