KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a mother of three as she slept early Tuesday morning.

Family and friends tell FOX 4 they were all inside, asleep, when someone drove by the home at N. 9th and Cleveland at 3:45 a.m., and fired shots into the mother’s bedroom and killed her.

Family and friends described the victim as 38-year-old mother who lived at the home with her three teenage children.

Family members tell FOX 4 they believe they know who fired shots into the woman’s bedroom and say a few days ago, she said she felt threatened by this person.

Police say they are on the lookout for that potential suspect while investigators collect evidence at the scene.

Family members say the victim worked as a caregiver at a retirement home and had a warm heart. They say she not only cared for her three children but others in need as well. They told FOX 4 they are devastated by her death and can’t understand why anyone would want to kill her.

Family also told FOX 4 someone shot this same woman in the head a few years ago on Christmas Eve. She survived, but charges were never filed.
