22-year-old Lee’s Summit motorcyclist dies in collision with car at 291 and 50 Highway

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist on Monday evening. The Lee’s Summit Police Department says that emergency crews were sent to the scene in the southbound lanes of 291 Highway near the east junction with 50 Highway at about 5:15 p.m.

According to a news release, the driver of the other car involved was headed south on 291 and preparing to go east on 50 Highway when the northbound motorcyclist collided with them at the intersection. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver of the car only suffered minor injuries.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 22-year-old Branden E. Blayney of Lee’s Summit.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
