KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A new movie about the 'Lost Boys' of Sudan will be hitting the silver screen this fall, and it has major ties to the metro. Not only is the story based here, several local actors were used in the film.

'The Good Lie' opens in October. It's about a group of refugees from Sudan who live in Kansas City. There was a special screening of the movie at the AMC Leawood Town Center Theatre.

Studio executives, a producer and several Kansas City residents who were in the movie were all excited to see the finished product. One of the local actors said it was a lot of work, but worth it.

“I could say it was stressful because we get up really early in the morning, getting scenes done, sometimes going home, doing everything through cold weather, hot weather. So it was a struggle,” KC resident Keji Jale said.

The movie stars Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon.
