LAWRENCE, Kan. –Three people – including an infant – have died Friday night in a crash south of Lawrence.

The Kansas Department of Transportation said the crash happened around 6 p.m. Friday on northbound U.S. Highway 59.

Kansas troopers say a car driven by Tiffany Cox of Ottawa crossed the grassy median into oncoming traffic and was broadsided.  Cox died, along with Kiffany Mietchen of Baldwin City.  Eight-month-old Azreal Ubelaker was also in the car and killed.

The driver of the other vehicle was not seriously hurt.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused Cox to lose control.
