SHAWNEE, Kan. -- Vandalism closed the gates to a swimming pool in Shawnee, Kan., -- not once, but twice during the month of June.

Authorities said vandals removed the drain covers at a neighborhood pool near 46th and Anderson in Shawnee. The first incident happened June 5. The larger pool had to be drained. The drain covers were replaced and the pool was filled back up with water. The pool was closed for five days and repairs cost approximately $5,000.

More recently, over the weekend, a similar incident took place in the kiddie pool.

The Crimson Ridge Home Association turned over surveillance video to police.

Other neighborhood pools have also had similar problems. They're also working with authorities.
