KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Singing, a cake, some food and friends, these are the staples of a birthday party.  Those staples plus a multitude of games and entertainment were at a special birthday party for a young girl known as L.P. who was found locked in a closet in June.  At ten years old, she only weighed 32 pounds.

"Too bad she ain't here to see it, but I mean it's a good thing," said Timothy Shelton.

Neighbor Timothy Shelton says his kids are loving the party, and it's a nice break for the community who've all been affected by the little girl.

Companies like Fun Services donated toward L.P.'s party.

"Our company is full of parents and when we heard this story originally, it just broke all of our hearts," said Adam Brown, from Fun Services.

Many other companies also pitched in donating food, face painting and a puppet show.  LINC or Local Investment Commission is also collecting gifts for L.P.  So far, more than $4,700 was collected along with more than 80 gifts and 550 cards.
