SANFORD, Fla. — New information in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin paint a more detailed description of what took place the night the 17-year-old boy died.

In addition to autopsy results released on Thursday that stated Martin had elements of an ingredient found in marijuana, never-before-scene pictures were also released.

In the photos, George Zimmerman, the man charged with murdering Martin, is pictured with apparent head wounds with dried blood trailing down his scalp. His face shows a minor abrasion, whereby a medical examiner confirmed Zimmerman had sustained a broken nose. Other photos released included pictures of the gun Zimmerman used to shoot Martin, he claims in self-defense, and Martin’s cell phone that was found lying in the grass.

As for the toxicology results that found elements of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis Dr. Michael Policastro, a toxicologist told CNN the amounts found in Martin’s chest blood cannot accurately indicate a level of intoxication. Policastro said levels of THC can linger in a person’s system for days and can spike in certain areas of the body after death.

In addition to Policastro, Dr. Drew Pinsky, an addiction specialist, told CNN that marijuana typically does not cause users to become more aggressive.

Zimmerman charged with second-degree murder for killing Martin. He has pleaded not guilty.
