NEW YORK (CNN) — At least 50 people were injured Wednesday morning when a ferry crashed into a dock in Lower Manhattan, New York, authorities said.
One person is in critical condition and is being treated at a nearby hospital, New York Police Department spokeswoman Sophia Tassie said.
Emergency crews carted several passengers on stretchers toward ambulances. There was a gash on the front of the ship, and support boats circled the area.
“There was a large jolt,” passenger Elizabeth Banta said. “It felt like we in a car crash. … Several people were thrown into the air and onto the ground.”
The Seastreak ferry travels between New Jersey and Pier 11 near Wall Street.
