NEW YORK — A New York man caught on camera kicking a cat may face jail time after being charged with animal cruelty.

According to the New York Times, Andre Robinson, 22, said he doesn’t believe he should go to jail.

“This is my first offense, so I really don’t think I should be put through this,” he said.

The New York Times reports that while this may be Robinson’s first animal cruelty charge, he has a criminal record that includes several arrests. Police would confirm only two of those: robbery at knife point and jumping a turnstile, both in 2011.
