OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — An image of a mother, son and “father” has gone viral.

A photographer got creative to reunite a young father who died before his time  with his family, and the image touching people around the world.

Lane Smith died last year from the injuries he suffered during a fall.

“July 13th 2014 was the absolute worst day of my life. I lost my best friend. The father of my unborn child. And since that day I have felt so empty inside. A part of me will forever be missing. I loved that man more than life itself,” Sierra Sharry said in the photographer’s Facebook post.

Sharry gave birth to their son Taos a few weeks later.

Sharry said when it came time for Taos six-month pictures, she wanted something a little more creative than what is typically done.

“I just got to thinking, we don’t have a picture with Lane in it,” Sharry told KOCO.

Then after a day of shooting photos and spending time making some edits, the photographer created an image that captured the family’s situation perfectly.

“Lane’s not physically here with us of course, but that picture represents to us that he’s always watching over us and he will always be there for us, no matter what,” Sharry told KOCO.
