NASHVILLE — A Tennessee man has been arrested after he reportedly stole a box full of human ashes that his family believes he thought was cocaine.

“William thought it was drugs, he thought he’d done found him a box of cocaine is what he thought,” the man’s grandmother, Wanda Allen, told WTVF-TV.

William “Billy” Cantrell reportedly took an Xbox and a small box last week from a neighbor’s home in Nashville. Allen said she doesn’t believe her grandson ever opened the bag, where the ashes were inside the box, because it still had its original tie.

The ashes were reportedly of the mother of the man Cantrell stole from.

Allen also said she does not believe her 28-year-old grandson was sober during the incident.

Cantrell was held on an aggravated burglary charge, the station reported.
