OLATHE, Kan. — Police responded to a forgery call on Friday afternoon in the 16600 block of West 135th Street and in the process, found something completely different. Officers found a homemade explosive device in the forgery suspect’s vehicle and arrested that suspect for possessing an explosive.
A release from the Olathe Police Department indicates that the device was recovered and no injuries were reported. Both the fire department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were notified of the incident.
The police department is still investigating and urges anyone who may have information about the incident or device to call the department at (913) 971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477. The release does not indicate if the suspect faces any legal repercussions from the initial call for forgery.
