KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Emergency crews are on the scene of a deadly multi-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.

The crash was reported just after 4 p.m. on northbound 71 Highway, just past Bannister Road.

Early police investigation indicates the driver of a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer was speeding north on 71 Highway when just past Bannister, the Chevrolet swiped a white GMC Yukon.

The driver of the GMC had stopped due to heavy traffic congestion on northbound 71.

The driver of the Chevrolet then rear ended a silver Jaguar XF that was stopped in front of the GMC and the Chevrolet rolled over, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger was retrained in a car seat and was taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, according police.

The other two drivers both received medical attention at the scene.

Northbound 71 was closed to all traffic for over two hours.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
