One woman critically injured in fire at Overland Park apartment complex

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — One woman has been critically injured Monday night in a fire at an Overland Park apartment complex.

The fire happened just before 9 p.m. at the Four Seasons Apartments near 87th and Grant streets. Overland Park and Lenexa fire crews were called to the scene.

Firefighters on scene found smoke showing from a two-story apartment building when they arrived with reports of a victim still inside. Crews found the woman in a second-story unit.

Officials said the fire was under control in 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The woman was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. One police officer was also taken to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross has been called in to assist two adults and three children who have been displaced by the fire.
