OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — One person is dead after a hit-and-run accident Friday morning.

Police say the accident happened around 8:05 a.m., at the intersection of W. 123 and Metcalf Avenue.

According to investigators a blue Ford Focus was heading east on W. 123 and ran a red light, which caused the Ford Focus to hit the side of a vehicle heading north on Metcalf. Two additional vehicles were hit before the Focus came to a stop.

Police say the driver of the Focus fled from the scene and entered an apartment through the front door, which was unlocked. When a woman living in the home found the suspect hiding in a bedroom, the suspect fled.  Police later found the suspect at a business complex nearby.

Police say the woman living in the apartment was not injured.

Officers determined that the Focus had been reported stolen out of KCMO, but they say they did not know that until after the collision.

Another driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
