LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash along I-470 Thursday morning.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-470 at Colbern Road just after 8 a.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved three vehicles. The driver of a 2010 Toyota Scion TC was traveling west on I-470 when they traveled off the left side of the road, became airborne and struck the driver of a 2019 Buick Encore heading east. The driver of the Toyota then traveled off the road and overturned. The driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban then struck the rear of the Buick.
The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as 47-year-old David C. Spohr, of Lee’s Summit. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The other two drivers were reported to have minor injuries and were wearing seat belts.
The crash involves 3 vehicles. A SB I-470 vehicle crossed thru the median cable into the NB I-470 lanes, striking a NB white Buick suv. Another NB vehicle subsequently struck the white Buick suv. Our Major Crash Unit is on the scene investigating. #MSHP pic.twitter.com/AaJ7yIbMtX
