One man dead, another injured after two shootings just blocks apart in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating a shooting Tuesday that left a man dead in Kansas City.

The shooting happened around 11 a.m. near 44th and Prospect. A person who called 911 reported that a man arrived in a vehicle at a car wash there and he had been shot. Details about what specifically led up to the shooting were not immediately available.

Later, tactical teams surrounded a home nearby, searching for a suspect, but they came up empty.

At about the same time, another man told police he had been shot near 44th and Park and made it to 44th and S. Benton Avenue. He suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police say the two shootings are not connected.

So far, there have not been any arrests in either of the shootings.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. All tips are anonymous, and there is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
