KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating a homicide outside a Kansas City Price Chopper.

It happened in the parking lot of the Price Chopper at 8700 East 63rd Street a little before 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police identified the victim on Monday as 39-year-old Jacob Brantner.

An off-duty police officer heard gunshots and walked into the parking lot where he found a man who had been shot to death.

Police believe the shouting may have started as some sort of disturbance.

“If you left the scene and saw this horrible incident we ask that you think of his family,” Kari Thompson with Kansas City Police said. “They lost a loved one, and you reach out to us and call us and let us know what you saw.”

Investigators say they are now looking for a metallic blue four-door Ford 500, that is believed to have left the parking lot of the Price Chopper around 8:30 p.m., Sunday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
