KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person has died Thursday after a train hit a SUV in Kansas City, officials say.
The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. near N. Chouteau Trafficway and E. Front Street. Crews had to work to extract the male victim from the SUV.
The SUV’s driver was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.
Police said the train was moving through the intersection at a slow speed, but a witness said it appears the driver didn’t see the train or a flare warning set up. There are no crossing gates at the railroad tracks in this area.
