One person shot, killed near 18th and Benton in Kansas City, police say

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police say one person has been fatally shot Monday night at a gas station near 18th Street and Benton Boulevard.

Police have not yet named the victim or released any identifying information about the person. KCPD Sgt. Kari Thompson said officers are still in the initial stages of the investigation and do not know the motive of the shooting yet.

The suspect was last scene running from the scene and is described as a black man wearing a multi-colored baseball hat and dark, baggy pants.

This is the 135th homicide in Kansas City in 2017. Police are asking anyone with information to call police. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
