Woman shot outside Olathe strip mall; one person in custody, police say

OLATHE, Kan. — A 48-year-old woman was shot multiple times Tuesday night outside an Olathe strip mall, police say.

The shooting happened shortly after 6 p.m. near Mur-Len Road and Cedar Street. Olathe police called to the area on an armed disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found a 48-year-old woman with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. She was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Sgt. Logan Bonney with Olathe Police confirmed one person was arrested. He said the suspect, a 28-year-old man, was taken into custody after a crash in the intersection. He’s been taken to jail and is awaiting charges.

Several businesses in the strip mall area were open at the time of the shooting and went into lockdown.
