Oregon Teen Arrested for Posting Drunk Driving Status to Facebook

ASTORIA, Ore. — An Oregon teen was arrested after he posted a status on Facebook, implicating himself in a drunk driving accident.

Jacob Cox-Brown, 18, posted “Drivin drunk… classsic ; ) but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. : P” to Facebook on New Year’s Eve.

Jacob Cox-Brown Facebook StatusAccording to the Daily Mail, one of his friends saw the post and called police. Officer at the time of the call were investigating a hit and run accident that damaged two vehicles. When police located Cox-Brown at his home, they discovered his car was damaged. Police said the damage was consistent with the damage done to the two vehicles involved in the hit and run accident earlier that day.

Cox-Brown was charged with two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver and was released from police custody. He could not be charged with DUI because police could not prove he was driving while intoxicated.
