OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Gunfire rang out near a busy restaurant in Overland Park. Now police hope a quick look at the suspected shooter's car will help them find whoever fired the shots.

The shooting happened early Monday morning in the parking lot of an IHOP at West 119th Street and Metcalf.

Overland Park police say initially they were called out to check out an armed disturbance, but after talking further to the victim, investigators soon learned that someone fired at least one gunshot at the man when he was in the parking lot.

The driver wasn`t hurt, but he told officers when he left the restaurant and drove westbound on 119th Street, someone, possibly in a black Nissan sedan drove by him, kept shooting at him for no apparent reason, and then sped off.

Traffic cameras captured a quick shot of the shooter`s car. Police hope someone recognizes the car, or if anyone witnessed the shooting to call Overland Park police.
