DREXEL, Mo. -- A volunteer with an animal shelter wants the owner to feel all warm and fuzzy, the same way she makes her rescues feel.

Kim Armstrong recently nominated Joyce Ellis for FOX 4's Pay-It-Forward Award.

"They take in the unwanted animals, the animals that are old, the animals that are sick that no one else wants," Armstrong said in her nomination. "These people have a heart of gold."

Ellis has an animal sanctuary on her property called Warm Fuzzies. The sanctuary takes in animals who are dumped out in the country.

"Merry Christmas, I've got a goodie bag," Armstrong when presenting Ellis with the $300. "And I've got a car full of items for you, as well."

Armstrong added that her unit at Lockton decided to donate additional funds to Ellis for her sanctuary.

Ellis said she wasn't sure what to say when presented with the award.
