KANSAS CITY, Mo. —  An organization that assists veterans who have gone back to college recently got a nice surprise during a staff breakfast.

Terrell Tigner nominated Linda Lechowicz of Metropolitan Community Colleges Technical Campus for FOX 4’s Pay-It-Forward Award because of the kindness she shows towards others, especially veterans.

“You all make this group of men and women so comfortable on campus,” Tigner said. “You give them the resources that’s definitely needed.”

“When veterans come in to the Penn Valley Campus Enrollment Center I see the anxiety that they have, and I just want to relieve that anxiety tell them that it’s okay,” Lechowicz responded. “They’re among friends.”

In presenting Lechowicz with $300 as part of the Pay-It-Forward Award, Tigner said the award is just a very small way to give back her for what she’s done.

“You really exemplify what we’re all about,” Tigner said. “Serving the community so I want to offer you this pay it forward for all of your hard work.”
