KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man has died Thursday night after police say he darted in front of a car and was hit on Interstate 29.

Police said two people were driving southbound on I-29 when the man, wearing dark clothes, darted in front of them. The car hit the man, who was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Officials have not yet released the man’s identity.

Police said there was a U-Haul truck parked on the interstate near where the man was hit, but police don’t know if the man had been driving it.

Only one southbound lane at I-29 and 72nd Street is open, as of about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
