PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. — Two teen girls fought through tears Friday to share their stories as the victims of sexual assault.

Seventeen-year-old Dakota Cochran is behind bars in Platte County, facing rape and child molestation charges. Prosecutors say last Friday, Cochran picked up the 14-year-old victim from a friend’s house, drove her to a rural area, forced her (for the first time) to have sex, then dropped her back off. The victim said she was too scared to tell anyone, but went to the emergency room three days later, where court records show evidence of a rape.

“We allege the victim in this case had never had sexual relations before and that this young man stole that from her. That’s a very serious allegation. We allege that the girl was not interested in having sexual contact and that this young man continued to force himself on her,” Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said.

The young teen talked exclusively with FOX 4 about what happened. She fought through tears, and her mother stood supportively close by during the interview.

“He took me to this place that had a river in front of it and I didn’t know what was happening. He asked me to drive and I didn’t understand what he meant by that. I said no, that I was too young,” she said.

The girl said that’s when it turned terrifying.

“He asked me if I wanted to make out with him and I said no and he brought himself onto me. The next thing I knew I was in the backseat, my pants were off. I tried to push him off but he was much stronger than I was. I didn’t know what do or think,” she continued. “He forced me to kiss him and I didn’t like it and he left a hickey on my neck. I was not comfortable in any way shape or form.”

Court documents show Cochran dropped the victim back off at her friend’s house. When the victim told her what happened, she too opened up that Cochran had done something similar to her. The 17-year-old also cried during this interview, with her mother by her side.

“He hangs out with girls by himself and then whenever he just says that he’s going to drive around, then he’ll park somewhere and then just like keep on asking and asking. I finally just gave up,” she told FOX 4.

The teen also said, “I felt like I had to say yes or I wouldn’t have a way to get home because I didn’t know where I was.”

Prosecutors say after the attack on the 14-year-old, Cochran took pictures of his boxers and sent them to the victim through Snapchat. Prosecutor Zahnd says Cochran also continued to harass the girl through text messages.

“The defendant sent pictures to this girl and they also had a text messaging discussion of what happened. He tried to suggest that what he did was no big deal. We allege that it was a crime,” said Zahnd.

“He kept on trying to talk to me, but I kept on ignoring and deleting the text messages,” the victim said.

Prosecutors call Cochran’s behavior a pattern. Referring to the 14-year-old’s friend, Zahnd said, “Another girl had come forward and indicated he had something similar to this prior.” He continued, “No means no and when anybody says no to sexual contact, that contact needs to stop.”

The teen will face the felony rape charge and misdemeanor child molestation charge as an adult. A judge set his bond at $50,000, and he could face up to seven years behind bars. The second victim and her parents are now working with the Platte County Sheriff’s Office to fill out a report.

The girls encouraged any other females who might have gone through sometime similar to step forward and reach out to their parents.

“You do need to come forward about it because it’s not okay,” said the victim.

“We’re pretty sure it’s happened to more people than just me and her. And we don’t want it to keep happening. I would talk to your parents about it,” her friend said.

FOX 4 stopped by the address listed for Dakota Cochran and his parents, but no one answered the door at the home Friday morning.
