KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Things are back to normal Sunday afternoon but earlier there was a lot of chaos outside the Walmart located on North Boardwalk shortly after noon.

Police say two men were armed with hand guns. According to KCPD the two men were at the store to buy ammunition for target practice.

Missouri is an open-carry state and Walmart does not have signs banning customers from bringing guns into their stores.

People are a little on edge after the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas a couple weeks ago.

"It just felt weird because like everything that's happened," said Walmart shopper Leah Wright.

"It makes me a little nervous given the fact that they had all these Walmart shootings and I think people are starting to take it as a joke," said Walmart shopper Marya Smith.

The two men were detained for a short time and then released. Police say they did not break any laws.

Shoppers tell FOX4 KCPD handled the situation pretty quickly so that they were able to get back to shopping.
