EDWARDSVILLE, Kan. — Officers are investigating a shooting death in the 500 Block of Mission Creek on Tuesday.

They say someone called 911 at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday to report a suspicious death. Late Tuesday afternoon, police wouldn’t say the age or gender of the person who died, but did tell FOX 4 that they’re not looking for a suspect outside the home where the person died at the Edwardsville Village Mobile Home Park.

Police say they’re asking the Kansas Bureau of Investigation for assistance.

“We have called in the KBI because of our limited resources. We’re a smaller law enforcement agency and they will be able to assist us. We will do neighborhood canvases and things like that,” said Mark Mathies, Edwardsville Police Chief.

Investigators said detectives will canvas the Edwardsville mobile home community to talk to neighbors to see if they can get more information to figure out what happened.

Neighbors in the small mobile home community told FOX 4 it is not uncommon to see people arguing outside the home.
