KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating a homicide that occurred at 67th Street and Park Avenue on Sunday. It’s the second killing in the past two days.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 7 p.m. Upon arrival, they found one male victim shot inside a car with both doors open.

Police said the victim was rushed to the nearby Research Medical Center, but he later died of his injuries.

Police identified the victim on Wednesday as 21-year-old Thomas M. Fayne.

No arrests have been made, although police said a vehicle was seen leaving the scene at the time of the shooting.

An man who said he knows the victim told FOX 4 the man’s son was in the back seat of the car during the shooting, but wasn’t injured.

He said it’s hard to see this kind of violence in his neighborhood.

“You see a kid that’s trying to turn his life around, that’s trying to be a figure in his son’s life and stuff like that, and then you see something like this, it makes it hurt,” the man said.

A neighbor said he heard 6 to 9 shots fired.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (816) 474-TIPS.
