KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police have one in custody after a shooting took place on Sunday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, police were on scene of the 500 block of East 105th St. after receiving calls of a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim inside a room of the Extended Stay hotel who was suffering from gunshot wounds. When EMS arrived, they pronounced the victim dead. Police then took one suspect into custody.

The victim has been identified as Fred Brewster, 18.

Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene, and will be speaking with witnesses and processing the scene for evidence.
