KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is in custody in connection to a double shooting in the area of 34th and Harrison in Kansas City, Mo.

Police said the ShotSpotter system detected the sounds of gun shots around 10 a.m. Tuesday. Police later located three people suffering from gunshot wounds. One person was shot in the leg, the other sustained injuries to the ankle. The third victim is considered the suspect, although the extent of his injuries is unknown.

Police installed the ShotSpotter system in several Kansas City locations near the Green Impact Zone and the Troost Max bus line in September 2012 to help curb violence. Federal grants helped pay for the $720,000 cost of installation, maintenance and five years of service.
