KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The names of two fallen police officers have been added to the memorial outside city hall in Kansas City, Kan.

The memorial was returned to its place with the names of Brad Lancaster and Dave Melton added. Lancaster was killed on May 9. Melton was killed two months later.

Sharon Vallejo, a wife of a police officer, is responsible for making sure any fallen officers are honored on the memorial.

"It was sad. It was real sad, because it's almost like when you etch it in stone it's so final, and it's so sad. But it's rewarding because you get to do this for the families as well," Vallejo said.

Before Lancaster's name, the last officer killed in the line of duty was June of 1998.
