GARDNER, Kan. — In his blog, Overland Park Police Chief John Douglass says last month airplane pilots at New Century Airport reported three incidents of a laser pointed at their aircraft.

One pilot was able to pinpoint the laser to the 7700 block of Frontage Road.

On June 1st police noticed a green laser light coming from a house while they answered another call in the area of 79th & Grant. Police found a teenage boy who admitted to pointing the laser at aircraft.

Using a green laser light incorrectly can carry federal charges. Laser light pointers are used in classrooms and for surgeries, but when used improperly can cause temporary or even permanent eye damage.
