LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Police continue to look for the gunmen who shot three people Sunday at a home near the University of Kansas campus, and hope to gather more information on Monday from the victims.  Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Sunday officers were called to a house located in the 1600 block of 19th Terrace on reports of multiple people shot with a hand gun or a pellet gun.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley, the conditions of the shooting victims have improved. He said the injuries are no longer considered life-threatening and said two of the victims may be released Monday.  Police are expected to interview the victims Monday, and hope their information could help identify the suspects.

There is still substantial police presence at the crime scene. Sgt. McKinley said detectives will try to retrace the route the shooters took after they fled on foot.

Wow! 6 News in Lawrence tweeted that witness Terry Fewel, who provided pictures of the scene, said he saw the three people being taken away on stretchers.

"It's a shame. This is a nice neighborhood. Never had any problems around here and we like it, nice and quiet," Fewel told FOX 4.

Around 5:30 p.m. KU released this campus-wide alert:

"Police are searching for an individual suspected in a shooting in the 1600 block of 19th Terrace. Police are searching the neighborhoods south and southeast of campus, including neighborhoods near Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center, but do not believe the suspect is on campus. The suspect is a white male wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, carrying a gray sweatshirt, and is believed to be armed. Stay alert, and if you have information or believe you have seen the suspect, please call 911 immediately."

A helicopter was called in to assist with the search, according to Douglas County dispatch. One of the victims with multiple gunshot wounds was reportedly transported from nearby Lawrence High School to the hospital via helicopter. The other two victims were taken by ambulance.

Police told FOX 4 on Sunday that they have gotten conflicting suspect descriptions all night long, including everything from what they are wearing to what race they are. Lawrence police, assisted by University of Kansas police, were initially searching for at least one suspect wearing a ski mask in the area of 19th Terrance and the KU campus. Later, KU police said they were searching for a white male wearing blue jeans and a black long-sleeve shirt, who appeared to be wearing a gun holster.

Police say although they don't know if the second suspect is black or white they do believe at least one of them is white. Police don't know the ages of the victims, or if they could be students at KU. Investigators have been hunting for the suspects all night Sunday in neighborhoods south and southeast of campus.
