KANSAS CITY, Mo. — People out and about in Midtown are asked to be extra careful Wednesday night. That warning follows four robberies overnight in areas around the Plaza and Westport.
Because of that police are stepping up patrols in Midtown and around the Plaza.
People out enjoying their evenings in those areas found that out the hard way Wednesday morning, as gunmen robbed them of their belongings. The four robberies occurring over a span of 90 minutes, one person was injured.
Investigators say just after midnight, a victim was robbed in the area of 43rd and J.C. Nichols, officers quickly arrested the man they believe committed the crime.
About 30 minutes later, police say another innocent victim was robbed near 40th and Pennsylvania at gunpoint. Then around 1:30 a.m., armed robbers struck again near West 47th and Jefferson. Police say the crime spree ended about 10 minutes later near 45th and Main with a fourth person robbed.
Police said they were stepping up patrols in the area as only one person suspected of committing the crimes had been caught.
They asked people out for dinner, drinks, and even those FOX 4 saw still trying to catch those pesky Pokemon to be vigilant, and aware of their surroundings.
“Try not to be alone don`t be like a target, don`t stay out too late,” said Eddie Howe.
“The important thing is to always try and pay attention to what you are doing, a lot of people get stuck not paying attention,” said Travis Bird.
