Students in the Raytown School District are working hard to construct a satellite that they hope will soon launch into orbit, hopefully within the next year or two.

They've been working on it for a year-and-a-half. The after-school activity began after one instructor took the idea to the assistant technology director in the district.  Much to his surprise, the idea kept going up the chain of command until it was approved.
