A gas leak caused six homes to be evacuated Wednesday afternoon near Adams Street and West 41st Avenue in Kansas City, Kan.

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Shirley said a construction crew installing fiber optics underground on Adams Street accidentally hit a sewer and gas line.
