Shawnee police search for suspect involved in string of break-ins outside of 24 Hour Fitness

SHAWNEE, Kan. -- Police in Shawnee are searching for the suspect or suspects responsible for a string of break-ins outside of a fitness center.

Police said that sometime before 11 p.m. Monday police were called to the parking lot of the 24 Hour Fitness near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Nieman Road.

When officers arrived they found six vehicles that had been broken into. Police said most of the vehicles had their windows smashed in and purses and wallets had been stolen.

After reviewing surveillance video, police said they noticed a 2005-2008 red Jeep Cherokee with a sunroof driving slowly around the parking lot.
