Sporting KC player tweets from Beirut during blasts

BEIRUT, Lebanon – Sporting Kansas City player, Soony Saad, tweeted to his followers about the two blasts that killed multiple people in Beirut, Tuesday.

Saad was in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, as bombs exploded outside the Iranian embassy less than two miles from where he was.

“Two explosions less than two miles away from me,” he tweeted.

The blasts killed at least 23 people. On Wednesday, he tweeted once more.

“Just hold on, I’m coming home,” he tweeted.

Saad is from Michigan, but is of Lebanese descent and is eligible for the Lebanese national soccer team. He is expected to be back in Kansas City this weekend for the MLS playoff game against Houston.
