KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire that spread to a nearby home in Kansas City, Mo., early Thursday morning.

Firefighters say the first started at a home near East 11th and White Ave. The fire was reported by an officer who was driving by on routine patrol and say the flames.

A one-story home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene. The fire then quickly spread to the roof a nearby home because of the strong winds.

Both homes are vacant, and no injuries were reported.

A neighbor tells FOX 4 that this is the second time in just a few months that one of the vacant homes caught fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
