Student in ‘police custody’ over threats at high school

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — An underage student is in police custody Monday after allegedly making threats to students at Van Horn High School, the Independence School District said.

“Any threat affecting student safety is taken very seriously,” said Nancy Lewis, Director of public relations for the district. “The district has worked closely with police on this matter.”

No other information was made available by the district, including what the threat may have been.
