Substitute teacher charged with 10 counts of child porn possession

WARRENSBURG, Mo. — A man who worked as a substitute teacher at Ridgeview Elementary School has been accused on 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Court records state that Joshua Woodard, 30, was in possession of a laptop computer that was found to have multiple video files of suspected child pornography.

A detective investigating the distribution of child porn identified an IP address from a computer located in the 1200 block of Manitou Way Drive in Warrensburg. According to court records, when the detective served a search warrant he found two laptop computers and other items, one laptop was specifically located next to Woodard’s bed.

A probable cause statement reveals that the laptop contained suspected child pornography depicting victims that were both male and female and ranged in age from four up to 11 years old.

The Johnson County, Mo. prosecutor has accused Woodard of downloading child porn between January 24, 2014 and April 23, 2014. Woodard was arrested at Ridgeview Elementary. Court records state that he spoke with authorities about how long he’s watched child porn, his preferences and how often he engaged in the act.

He was arrested by Warrensburg Police and booked into the Johnson County Jail on Wednesday afternoon, his bond was not listed. Each charge is a class B felony that carries a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 15 years if he’s convicted.
