KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A wanted Missouri fugitive is in custody after a standoff in Kansas City, Missouri. The S.W.A.T. team moved in on a home in the 700 block of Ewing Avenue on Friday afternoon where Dustin Mask, 28, was holed up.
An ex-girlfriend said Mask showed up Friday morning asking to charge his phone and before she could get him out, police were at her door.
There had been a manhunt for Mask going on all week, after a reported abduction and shooting in Laclede County. The Laclede County Sheriff’s Office says he was already wanted in three counties for assault, armed criminal action and meth charges at that point.
The S.W.A.T. team was able to get him out of the home after several hours. Residents say they broke down the door and fired tear gas into the home.
Charles Doyle also pointed out how the armored truck took out several fences and rammed a pickup truck into the backyard of the home.
“My landlord called me at work and told me my house was surrounded by cops and they had their guns drawn,” Doyle said.
“From what they told us he was wanted for kidnapping his girlfriend shooting her, that’s what they told us that’s all I know of, he was armed and dangerous,” an ex-girlfriend named Kimberly said.
Mask was booked into the Jackson County Jail Friday night where he likely will wait to be transported back to the Lake of the Ozarks area to face numerous charges.
