Thieves used an unusual weapon to rob an Overland Park jewelry story, police said

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. —  Police said robbers used an unusual weapon in a jewelry theft at Jared, The Galleria of Jewelry store Monday night.

Police said three men covered from head to toe wearing masks and hoodies entered  the jewelry story near 135th and Metcalf around 8 p.m. Two of the suspects had hammers. The third suspect had a gun, but never pulled it out.

According to police, the two with hammers broke the display cases. They took an undisclosed amount of diamonds and other merchandise, then took off before police arrived.

The jewelry store was still open at the time of the robbery. No one was injured.
