TOPEKA, Kan. — The mayor of Topeka wants his citizens to shed some of their clothes in an effort to cut back on crime.

Mayor Bill Bunten is suggesting that the city place a ban on hooded sweatshirts and ball caps. Bunten believes that the ban will help lower the crime rate.

Some people are commending the mayor for thinking outside the box, but some city council members say that they disagree with the proposal.

Bunten says that he got the idea from Topeka Police Chief Ron Miller, and that other cities have found it to be successful.
